Creating sacred spaces

Tuesday, October 9th, 2012

Today’s scripture reading recalls the story from Luke of Martha and Mary. While Martha was distracted with busyness, Mary sat at the feet of Jesus and listened.

She created a sacred space for herself, a space where she could be still and listen to the Lord.

There’s a beautiful piece of music by Margaret Rizza with text by Pamela Hayes that captures this thought. The words are:

Silent, surrendered, calm and still,
open to the word of God.
Heart humbled to his will,
offered is the servant of God.

I’d like to direct you back to my main blog, Be As One, where you can read more about creating and using sacred spaces. Perhaps it will help you in your desire to become more like Mary.
